Early Life and Education
Henry Sarkisian was born in Armenia, a multi-talented artist known for his work as a writer, filmmaker, and sculptor. He pursued higher education in both the Tbilisi Academy of Arts (1942-1945) and the Yerevan Artistic Institute (1945-1948), developing his skills in various disciplines.
Professional Career
From 1954 onwards, Sarkisian contributed to the Armenian press in Tbilisi and Yerevan. In 1965, he relocated to Yerevan permanently and joined the editorial staff of "Grakan Tert" (Literary Newspaper).
Journalism and Filmmaking
Sarkisian's journalistic endeavors expanded to include film. From 1973 to 1980, he served as an editor of the "Ecran" magazine. In 1981, he embarked on a film directing career, helming several projects based on his own screenplays.
Screenplays and Films
As a screenwriter, Sarkisian penned numerous works, including "Triangle" (1967), "Khatabala" (1971), "Ayrik" (1972), and "Baghdasar Divorces His Wife" (1977). These screenplays paved the way for his directorial debut with "Lyrical March" (1981). He went on to direct several other films, including "The Glowing Lantern" (1983), "Renaissance" (1984), "Three of Us" (1988), and "Secret Advisor" (1988).
Continued Work and Legacy
From 1991 onwards, Henry Sarkisian held the position of editor for "Ayutyun" newspaper. His contributions to Armenian culture left a lasting impression, and his works continue to be appreciated by audiences and critics alike.
