Biography of Agnieszka Radwanska

Early Life and Career

Agnieszka Radwanska was born on March 6, 1989, in Krakow, Poland. She grew up in a sports-oriented family, with her father, Robert Radwanski, being a professional tennis player and her mother, Marta Radwanska, working as an accountant. Her younger sister, Urszula Radwanska, is also a tennis player. Both Agnieszka and Urszula represent the sports club "Nadwislank Krakow." Agnieszka began playing tennis in Germany, where her father coached at the "Gruen-Gold" club in Gronau. The family later returned to Poland in 1995.

At the age of six, Agnieszka won her first junior tennis tournament, while her four-year-old sister finished fourth. She continued to train under her father's guidance and participated in regular junior and international tournaments. In May 2005, she made her debut in junior Grand Slam tournaments at Roland Garros. The following year, she played in her first WTA tournament.

Career Achievements

Agnieszka Radwanska has had a successful tennis career, representing the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). She has won five WTA singles titles and two in doubles. She has also represented Poland in the Fed Cup and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Her highest ranking was 8th in the world, achieved on February 22, 2010. As of August 8, 2011, Radwanska is ranked as the 12th best player globally.

In 2007, Agnieszka became the first Polish female tennis player to win a singles title at a Sony Ericsson WTA Tour event, at the Nordea Nordic Light Open in Stockholm. She went on to win three more singles titles in 2008 at the PTT Pattaya Open, Istanbul Cup, and International Women's Open 2008. Additionally, she reached the quarterfinals four times in Grand Slam tournaments, making her the highest-ranked Polish player in the WTA rankings.

On May 24, 2008, Agnieszka became the first Polish tennis player whose prize money exceeded one million dollars.
