Ajay Devgn: Early Life and Bollywood Debut
Ajay Devgn, a renowned Indian actor, producer, screenwriter, and director, was born into a family deeply rooted in the film industry. His father, Viru Devgan, was a renowned director and stuntman, and his cousin, Anil Devgan, is a Bollywood director. Exposed to the world of cinema from a tender age, Ajay accompanied his father on film sets, which sparked his passion for acting.
In 1991, Ajay made his cinematic debut in the film "Phool Aur Kaante." In a memorable stunt sequence, he balanced on two motorcycles, solidifying his image as an action hero. His exceptional performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
Rise to Stardom
1997 marked a breakthrough in Ajay's career with the release of "Itihaas." While the film underperformed commercially, his portrayal in "Ishq" alongside Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, and love interest Kajol showcased his versatility.
In 1998, Ajay delivered a critically acclaimed performance in "Zakhm," which garnered him the National Film Award for Best Actor. His subsequent film, "Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha" (1999), opposite his eventual wife Kajol, solidified his position as a leading man.
