Akgul Amanmuradova is an Uzbek tennis player who has had a successful career in the sport. Born on June 23, 1984, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Amanmuradova began her professional tennis journey in the early 2000s.
Early Career
Amanmuradova made her debut on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tour in 2000 at a tournament in her hometown, Tashkent. Although her debut was not successful as she lost in the first qualifying round, Amanmuradova continued to work hard and gradually improved her rankings.
In 2002, she participated in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments and reached the semifinals in Mysore and the finals in Manila and Hyderabad. However, she was defeated by Indian tennis player Sania Mirza in both finals.
Rise in Rankings
In 2003, Amanmuradova had a successful year, winning four singles titles, including a $25,000 ITF tournament in Mumbai. She also represented Uzbekistan in the Fed Cup, winning matches against Thailand, the Philippines, and Hong Kong before being defeated by Akiko Morigami from Japan.
In the following years, Amanmuradova continued to participate in various tournaments and achieved notable success. She reached the semifinals in two tournaments and won two others in 2004. Although she faced consecutive losses in the Fed Cup, she managed to win the ITF tournament and improve her rankings.

In 2005, Amanmuradova qualified for the WTA tournament in Pattaya City, Thailand, reaching the second round before losing to Shahar Pe'er from Israel. She continued her good performance in Hyderabad, qualifying for the main draw and eventually losing to Tamarine Tanasugarn. These achievements helped her climb up the world rankings, reaching a position higher than 300.
In 2006 and 2007, Amanmuradova's rankings fluctuated but continued to improve. By the end of 2007, she was ranked 97th in the world, and the following year, she climbed to the 80th position. Despite facing some challenges in 2009, Amanmuradova managed to win the doubles tournament in Eastbourne and reach the final of the Tashkent Open.
