The Acoustic Forest: A Musical Journey of Dreams and Enjoyment
Origins and InspirationIn 1992, Stas Kondakov penned his debut song, "Acoustic Forest," which later inspired the establishment of the eponymous rock band in 1994. The band's name aptly reflects its vibrant, unique, and exceptional spirit. Their music encompasses a diverse range, from post-punk to rock-pop, blending atypical English spleen with the evocative melancholy and romance of Russian songs.
Early Success and Recognition
The band's first electric concerts began in 1994, coinciding with the addition of Dmitry Skotnikov (bass) and Alexander Notarov (drums). Their song "Acoustic Forest" gained recognition with the release of a music video on Vladimir TV, later aired on St. Petersburg TV's "Crystal Key" program. The band's debut album, "Continuing to Love," was released in 1995, featuring members Stas Kondakov, Mikhail Rybin, Dmitry Skotnikov, and Alexei Yegorychev.
Evolution and Growth
In 1996, the band released "Peace to the World and Rock-n-Roll!!!" with the addition of guitarist Ivan Mochalov. The album gained widespread success through a strategic advertising campaign on press and radio. Extensive live performances and festival appearances followed, showcasing their compelling music.
Artistic Transformation and the "26" Album
1997 marked a period of transition with Ivan Mochalov's departure for military service. The band evolved, welcoming new members such as bassist Leonid Kuzmin, saxophonist Vladimir Raslin, and percussionist Sergei Zabaturin. While their performances were energetic and captivating, space constraints proved challenging on certain stages.
The year 1998 brought about the arrival of guitarist and accordionist Sergei Kortunov, as well as Mikhail Rybin's return on keyboards. In May, their album "26" emerged, its title inspired by the birth of Stas Kondakov's daughter during its recording.
Breakthrough and Moscow Expansion
The release of "Intercity" in 2000 marked a transformative moment for the band. Incorporating elements of Britrock and contemporary trends, it propelled them into the Moscow club scene. The band's popularity soared with performances at prominent venues like Yu-Tu, Manhattan Express, and The Matrix.
In 2001, the entire band relocated to Moscow, expanding their reach with performances in neighboring cities. Their song "Smell of Rain" gained airplay on Nashe Radio.
Record Deals and New Horizons
In 2002, the band signed with sound recording label Roff Technologies for their album "Moscow Windows." Keyboardist Alexei Volkov brought his expertise in dance samples, further enriching their sound. The album was presented in Moscow in 2003.
Continued Success and Growing Legacy
2004 saw the release of "We Will Live" through Nikitin Records. In 2005, the band had another successful album launch at the Tabula Rasa club. The current lineup of Acoustic Forest consists of accomplished musicians who have spent many years together, sharing life experiences and musical aspirations. They describe themselves as a close-knit family, with their performances reflecting their collective journey.
