Biography of Albert Sanchez Pinol
Albert Sanchez Pinol is a Catalan anthropologist and writer. He initially studied law but eventually graduated from the anthropology department at the University of Barcelona. In the 1990s, he conducted ethnographic research among the Pygmies of Congo. However, he had to leave the country due to the civil war that broke out between 1996 and 1997.
Career
In the 2000s, Pinol focused primarily on literature. He writes all of his works in Catalan, except for the novels "Victus" and "Vae Victus," which were written in Spanish. His science fiction writings often reflect influences from Stevenson, Conrad, and Lovecraft.
One of Pinol's most successful novels is "Cold Skin" (2002). It received the "Critical Gaze" award and has been published in 20 editions in Catalan and 8 editions in Spanish. The novel has been translated into over 30 languages, including Chinese. It was also adapted into a film.
