Jazz Musician Alberto Pinton

Early Life and Education

Alberto Pinton is an Italian-born jazz musician and saxophonist. He was born on March 4, 1962, in the industrial town of Porto-Margera, near Venice, Italy. Pinton began his musical journey at a young age, initially learning to play the piano and guitar. However, at the age of eleven, he became interested in jazz and improvisation. It wasn't until he turned twenty that Alberto acquired his first saxophone and started taking private lessons from renowned multi-instrumentalist Renato Geremia.

In 1985, Alberto moved to Stockholm, Sweden, but found the opportunities there insufficient for his musical development. In 1988, he received a scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. He graduated with honors in 1990, earning a Bachelor's degree in Concert Saxophone. His classmates included Joe Viola, George Garzone, and Jerry Bergonzi.

Music Career

During his time in Boston, Pinton regularly performed with ensembles such as the Herb Pomeroy Jazz Orchestra, Reg Hopkins Big Band, and the Either Orchestra. He also had the opportunity to collaborate with musicians like Jim Black, Chris Speed, and Dave Bellow. After returning to Stockholm, Pinton performed and recorded extensively with jazz groups such as the Swedish Radio Jazz Group and Stockholm Jazz Orchestra.

However, he soon realized that New York City offered greater chances to showcase his talent. In 1993, Alberto received a scholarship to the renowned Manhattan School of Music, where he spent two years studying and playing with a multitude of talented artists. He graduated in 1995 with a Master's degree in Woodwind Instruments.

Upon his return to Stockholm, Pinton began working on his solo material. In 2001, he released his debut album "Common Intent" under the independent Swedish label "Moserobie." The label, founded by Jonas Kullhammar in 2002, focuses on collaborating with jazz musicians such as Pinton, Jonas Kullhammar, Torbjörn Zetterberg, and Nils Wogram.
