Biography of Aled Davies
Aled Davies, born on May 24, 1991, is a Welsh athlete and Paralympian who primarily competes in throwing events in the F42 category. Despite being born with a serious underdevelopment of his right leg called hemimelia, Aled has always been passionate about sports.

Early Years and Sports Beginnings
Aled was born in Bridgend, South Wales. He initially competed in swimming but later shifted his focus to shot put and discus throwing. A turning point in his sporting career came in 2006, when he was taken under the wing of coaches Anthony Hughes and Nathan Stephens. After just a few months of training with Hughes, Aled won gold medals in shot put and discus throwing at a competition in Blackpool.

Junior Success and International Achievements
In 2009, Aled participated in the Welsh Open Championship and emerged as the champion in both shot put and discus events. He later won a silver medal at the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) Junior Championship. The following year, Aled became the IWAS Junior Champion in both shot put and discus, demonstrating a significant improvement in his performance.
Road to Paralympics
In 2011, Aled competed in the IPC Athletic Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand, finishing fourth in shot put and second in discus. He continued to excel and set a personal record in shot put at the IWAS Junior Championship in April. A month later, Aled achieved a personal best in discus at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester, earning him a third-place finish.
Record-Breaking Achievements and Paralympic Success
In 2012, Aled set a world record in shot put in the F42 category, throwing the shot 14.56 meters at the CP Sport Grand Prix in Gateshead, England. He followed this with two gold medals at the Croatian Open in Zagreb, solidifying his dominance in shot put and discus. Aled's exceptional performance continued as he broke his own personal best in discus at the Paralympic World Championship, securing a bronze medal.
Aled was selected to represent Great Britain in shot put and discus at the 2012 Paralympic Games. On August 31, he won a bronze medal in shot put with a distance of 13.78 meters. Two days later, Aled competed in discus throwing and claimed the gold medal with a throw of 46.14 meters, setting a new European record.
