Early Years and Youth Achievements

Carlos Nascimento, a Bulgarian weightlifter, began his career with a series of impressive victories in youth competitions. In 2018 and 2019, he emerged as the European Youth Champion, securing the titles in the 69 kg and 81 kg categories, respectively.

World and European Championships Dominance

At the 2019 World Youth Championships in Las Vegas, Nascimento showcased his skills in the 73 kg weight class, capturing the gold medal with a total of 291 kilograms. His success continued at the 2021 European Championships in Moscow, where he became the European Vice-Champion in the 81 kg category, setting a new European record for youth and also earning silver in the snatch event, setting another youth European record. In the clean and jerk event, he took the gold and set a new European record with a lift of 206 kg.

Nascimento's remarkable performances continued at the 2021 World Championships in Tashkent. Competing in the 81 kg weight class, he emerged victorious, lifting a total of 374 kg. He secured the silver medal in the snatch event and a world record in the clean and jerk, lifting 208 kg.

The 2022 World Championships in Bogota saw Nascimento set another world record in the clean and jerk, lifting 220 kg in the 89 kg category. However, a lack of success in the snatch event left him without a total result.

Triumph at the European Championships

In 2023, Nascimento returned to the European Championships in Yerevan, Armenia. Competing in the 89 kg category, he achieved a stunning triumph, lifting a total of 395 kg, setting a new world record. His victory extended to the snatch event, where he claimed the top spot and set another world record with a lift of 221 kg.

The 2024 European Championships in Sofia proved to be another landmark event for Nascimento. He secured the gold medal with a total lift of 391 kg, breaking yet another world record. He also dominated the individual events, setting a new world record in the snatch with a lift of 176 kg.

Olympic Glory

Crowning his remarkable career, Nascimento represented his country in the 89 kg weight class at the 2024 Summer Olympics, achieving the pinnacle of sporting success. He lifted a total of 404 kilograms, setting world records in both the clean and jerk (224 kg) and the total (404 kg). Nascimento's Olympic gold medal cemented his legacy as a true weightlifting legend.
