Early Life and EducationAlejandro García Caturla, an exceptional Cuban composer and conductor, emerged from humble beginnings. As a youth, Caturla pursued violin studies while simultaneously studying law in Havana. His passion for music led him to Paris in 1925, where he honed his compositional skills under the tutelage of renowned teacher Nadia Boulanger.
Orchestral Experience
Upon returning to Cuba in 1927, Caturla became a violinist in various Havana orchestras. He also conducted his own small ensemble, introducing Cuban audiences to the works of Debussy, Ravel, de Falla, and Gershwin for the first time. Compositional Style
