Azerbaijani Chemist and National Hero
Early Life and EducationAlekper Aliyev, an Azerbaijani chemist, was born on December 22, 1955, in the village of Ishighli in the district of Qubadli, Azerbaijan SSR. He graduated from the secondary school in the village of Muradkhany in 1972 and enrolled at the Sumgayit Polytechnic School. After graduating, he served in the Soviet army for two years.
Career and Military Service
Following his military service, Aliyev worked at the Chemistry Society in the Qubadli district. Upon his return to his home village, he was appointed as the deputy director of the state farm. When the Nagorno-Karabakh War began, Aliyev organized a self-defense unit and participated in battles for the villages of Turkyar, Sepiyan, and Suarasy in the Lachin district.
Tragic Death and Legacy
Aliyev lost his life in combat during the battle for the village of Suarasy on August 7, 1992. By the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 350 dated December 7, 1992, Alekper Hasan oglu Aliyev was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan. He was buried at the Alley of Martyrs in Baku and is survived by his wife and four children. School number 204 in the Khatai district of Baku bears his name in honor of his heroism.
