Alexander Aamodt Kilde - Norwegian Alpine Skier
Alexander Aamodt Kilde is a Norwegian alpine skier who specializes in speed disciplines. He was born on September 21, 1992, in Bærum, Norway. Kilde has had a successful career, becoming the winner of the overall Super-G World Cup in the 2015/16 season and the European Cup in the 2012/13 season. He also participated in the 2014 Winter Olympics and won the Junior World Championship in 2013.
Early Years and Career Beginnings
In his youth, Kilde was involved in both football and alpine skiing. However, he ultimately chose skiing as his main focus. He started competing in FIS-sanctioned events in 2007 and spent the next four years primarily participating in national competitions within Norway.
Professional Success
Kilde's breakthrough occurred in the 2012/13 season when he debuted in the World Cup in Zell am See, Austria, on October 28, 2012. In early 2013, he won several races in the European Cup and became the Junior World Champion in giant slalom on February 25. That season concluded with Kilde winning the overall European Cup title.
On December 1, 2013, Kilde earned his first World Cup points in Lake Louise, Canada, finishing 20th in the Super-G discipline. In 2014, he made his debut at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, competing in three disciplines. Kilde achieved a remarkable 4th place in the super combined event but failed to complete the second run. In the Super-G, he finished 13th, trailing the winner by just over a second, and unfortunately, he did not finish the downhill race.
On March 22, 2015, Kilde achieved his first top-ten result in a World Cup race, finishing 7th in the Super-G event in Hinterstoder, Austria. He also made his debut at the World Championships that year, with his best result being 8th place in the combined event.
Current Status
As of now, Kilde continues to compete in the World Cup circuit and represents Norway in international competitions. He is sponsored by Atomic and uses their skis for his races. With his impressive achievements, Kilde has established himself as one of Norway's top alpine skiers and continues to strive for further success in his career.
