Early Life and Education
Vontov was born in Leningrad on December 7, 1950, during the reign of the enigmatic leader. Details of his childhood and early life remain largely unknown. At the age of 27, he graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music, and Cinematography.
Theater Career
Under the mentorship of renowned teachers at the institute, Vontov's artistic journey began. Joining the Komissarzhevskaya Drama Theater in 1977, he has played over 80 roles in productions based on works by renowned authors such as Alexey Tolstoy, Mikhail Bulgakov, Jean-Baptiste Molière, and Alexander Dumas fils.
Film and Television
Vontov's screen debut came in the 1979 television film "Kukushka." He has appeared in numerous feature films and television series, including "Vlyublen po sobstvennomu zhelaniyu" (1982) and "TASS upolnomochen zayavit..." (1984). His portrayal of a botanist in the film "Gryadushchemu veku" (1985) earned him critical acclaim. Vontov has also made significant contributions to the popular television series "Ulitsy razbitykh fonarei" (2000-2005), creating three distinct characters.

Since 2005, Vontov has specialized in historical figures. His portrayal of Moisei Uritsky in the TV series "Gibel imperii" (2005) marked a turning point in his career. He went on to play prominent roles in films like "Pushkin: Poslednyaya duel" (2006) as Minister of Education Sergey Uvarov and "Stolypin... Nevyuchennye uroki" (2006) as Governor-General Friedrich von Lauhnitz.
Stalin Impersonations
Vontov's most memorable performances have been as Joseph Stalin. He first embodied the enigmatic leader in the documentary "Chapay s nami" (2009) and has reprised the role in several TV series, including "Vse nachalos v Kharbine" (2010) and "Almazi Stalina" (2014).
