Alexander Polozov Biography

Alexander Polozov is a prominent Russian painter who is known for his contributions to the field of art. He is a member of the Petrovskaya Academy of Sciences and Arts, a distinguished artist of Russia, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, and a member of the Academy of Russian Literature and Fine Arts named after G.R. Derzhavin.

In 1972, Polozov completed his studies at the I.E. Repin Institute for Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, where he trained in the workshop of A.D. Zaitsev. His talent and dedication were recognized in 1980 when he was awarded the Silver Medal of the Academy of Arts of the USSR and received a rewarding trip to Italy for his painting "The Sentry. A Chorus of Wagon Wheels".

From 1982 to 2002, Polozov served as a member of the board of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists and was the Chairman of the creative department of the painting section. In 1992, he founded and led the "Guild of Painters of St. Petersburg". In 2003, Polozov was invited to the position of a professor at the Department of Painting at the A.I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University.

Throughout his career, Polozov embarked on numerous creative journeys, including visits to the Baikal-Amur Mainline, Polar stations SP-28 (1986) and SP-30 (1988), and Antarctica (1989-1990). These experiences provided him with rich material for creating diverse and multifaceted paintings.

Polozov's artistic works encompass various genres such as portraiture, historical and everyday life scenes, and landscape. Some of his notable paintings include "Army Self-Portrait" (1973), "Guard on the Move" (1977), "Start of the Workday" (1978), "Academician Zhores Alferov" (1986), "Here Icebergs are Born" (1989), "Poet and Artist (Pushkin and Kiprensky)" and "On His Own Land (Nevsky Piattochok)" (1994-2002), and "Peter the Great" (2002).

Polozov continues the traditions of the Russian realistic school while also creating a unique world that reflects contemporary experiences and a love for the homeland. His artistic language is rich and diverse, and his works are imbued with the power of the human spirit, the strength of nature, and a deep understanding of the material.

Polozov has participated in and organized numerous exhibitions, including solo exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Many of his works are in the possession of various funds, museums, and private collections in Russia and beyond.
