Biography of Alexi Laiho
Alexi Laiho, born on April 8, 1979, in Espoo, Finland, is a Finnish guitar virtuoso who gained worldwide fame as the vocalist and guitarist of the popular death metal band 'Children of Bodom'. Known for his aggressive guitar playing style, Alexi earned the nickname 'Wildchild' early in his career, solidifying his reputation as one of the wildest and most talented guitarists in the world.

Early Years and Musical Journey
At the age of five, Alexi began learning to play the piano, and later, at seven years old, he started studying the violin. His interest in classical music took a sharp turn towards heavy rock and metal thanks to his sister, Anne, who had a passion for heavy music. Soon, he abandoned classical music and his musical bible became a well-played cassette tape of Steve Vai's 'For the Love of God', which he used to learn new techniques and tricks.

Although Alexi showed musical talent and had a good ear from a young age, his true musical talent blossomed when he started playing the guitar, for which he seemed to be born. In 1993, he founded the band 'Children of Bodom' with his friends, quickly becoming one of the leading metal bands in Finland and worldwide.

Rise to Fame and Success
The band's first album, 'Something Wild', primarily written by Alexi, quickly gained popularity due to its fresh sound, blending traditional metal riffs and solos with elements of instrumental and classical music. Many songs featured fragments of famous classical compositions by Bach, Mozart, and others.

Shortly after the album's release, Alexi fell into depression and attempted suicide by consuming a critical dose of tranquilizers. Fortunately, he was rushed to the hospital in time, but upon awakening, he adamantly refused to undergo lengthy treatment, assuring doctors that he would rather play guitar at home.
The peak of Alexi's career came in 2003 with the release of the band's third studio album, 'Hate Crew Deathroll'. Not only did it top most European charts, but the album also achieved gold and platinum status. While all subsequent albums by the band would go on to become gold-certified, it was this particular work that garnered them global attention.
In the same year, 'Children of Bodom' were named the Band of the Year at the Finnish Metal Music Awards. Throughout the year, the band embarked on a world tour, performing both solo concerts and various festivals. Additionally, they even gave several free concerts as part of their tour.
Legacy and Personal Life
Alexi always made room for humor on stage and in the studio, often including cover songs of popular tracks in the band's studio albums. The most popular cover was the song 'Oops!... I Did It Again', originally performed by Britney Spears, which was released in 2005 on the album 'Are You Dead Yet?'
Alexi was named the 98th best guitarist in the world by 'Guitar World' magazine and was also included in their list of '50 fastest guitarists in the world'. However, his fans and metal music enthusiasts hold him in higher regard. According to a survey conducted by 'Total Guitar' magazine, Alexi ranked first among the '20 greatest metal guitarists in the world'.
For a long time, rumors circulated about Alexi's non-traditional sexual orientation, which he himself fueled with his antics and wild parties, the footage of which never made it into music magazines. In February 2002, the musician married Kimberly Goss, a member of the popular band 'Sinergy'. However, their marriage lasted only two years. In 2004, they filed for divorce but remained good friends, as they admitted in interviews.
As of today, Alexi continues his musical career, recording new material with the band and frequently performing live concerts.
