Early Life and Career
David Výborný was born in Jihlava, Czechoslovakia, on January 18, 1975. He began his hockey career with HC České Budějovice at the age of six.
NHL Career
In 1998, Výborný was selected in the 6th round (164th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in the 2000-01 season and played in the league for nine seasons. During his time in the NHL, he played for the Sabres, Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Return to Europe
After the 2008-09 season, Výborný returned to Europe and signed with HC České Budějovice, his childhood club. He played there for three seasons before retiring in 2014.
International Career
Výborný represented the Czech Republic internationally on numerous occasions. He was part of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2006 Winter Olympics and also won a bronze medal with HC Bílí Tygři Liberec in the Czech Extraliga in 2005.
