Biography of Alessandro Rosina
Alessandro Rosina is an Italian footballer who currently plays as an attacking midfielder and forward for the Russian Premier League team, Zenit Saint Petersburg. He was born in Belvedere Marittimo, Calabria, Italy.
Early Career
Rosina first started playing professional football at the age of 5 for the youth team of Cittadella del Capo. His talent quickly caught the attention of agents from top Italian clubs such as Juventus, Roma, and Milan. However, it was his father who ultimately decided that Rosina should join Parma. He began his career in the youth team before being promoted to the senior team in the 2001-2002 season.
Career at Parma
Rosina made his professional debut on February 16, 2003, in a match against Juventus, coming on as a substitute for Hidetoshi Nakata. Over the next two and a half years, he made a total of 25 appearances in league matches. In January 2005, Rosina was loaned to Hellas Verona before being transferred to Torino, who was playing in Serie B at the time. He quickly became a key player for Torino, scoring 12 goals in 42 appearances and helping the team avoid relegation from Serie A for two consecutive seasons.
Move to Zenit Saint Petersburg
In July 2009, Rosina was sold to Zenit Saint Petersburg for around 7 million euros. The club's manager, Dick Advocaat, did not approve of the signing, preferring other players like Goran Pandev and Paolo Guerrero. However, the club's sporting director, Igor Korneev, insisted on signing Rosina. He made his debut for Zenit on August 5, 2009, and scored his first goal for the team in a match against Nizhny Novgorod in the Russian Cup. Despite facing some challenges with playing time under different managers, Rosina consistently performed well for Zenit.
International Career
From 2004 to 2007, Rosina also represented the Italy U-21 national team. He made his debut for the senior national team on October 17, 2007, in a friendly match against South Africa.
