Early Life
Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez was born on July 27, 1975, in New York City to Dominican parents. At the age of four, he visited the Dominican Republic before his family relocated to Miami, Florida. His childhood baseball idols were Keith Hernandez, Dale Murphy, and Cal Ripken, and his favorite team was the New York Mets.

High School Career
Rodriguez excelled in baseball at Westminster Christian High School, leading the team to the national high school baseball championship. He was named a high school All-American and the 1993 Baseball America Player of the Year while still in high school.

Professional Career
Seattle MarinersRodriguez received a scholarship to the University of Miami but never played for the college team. Instead, he signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners in 1993 and played with them until 2000.
