Alexa Havins Biography
Alexa Havins, an American actress, was born on November 16, 1980, in Artesia, New Mexico. However, her family soon moved to Chandler, Arizona, where she attended Chandler High School. As a child, Alexa showed a love for the performing arts, and at the age of 3, her parents enrolled her in a dance class. She later joined prestigious courses at a theater school in New York, which ultimately helped her in her career as a film actress.
Early Career
During her time in Los Angeles, Havins crossed paths with the legendary acting coach Brian Rice and became his student. They developed a close friendship, and Brian continues to be Alexa's mentor. Before pursuing acting, Havins worked as a professional dancer and was associated with Universal Dance. However, her path changed when she was offered the role of Babe Chandler in the soap opera "One Life to Live" (1968 - 2008). This marked the beginning of Alexa's career as a film actress.
Career Highlights
In 2003, Havins was invited to join the cast of the series "All My Children," where she played the role of Arabella "Babe" Carey Chandler. Her portrayal of Babe, a mischievous yet kind-hearted character, earned her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 2005. Alexa and her on-screen partner also won the award for "favorite soap opera couple." Babe's role was a breakthrough for Havins, and she was soon recognized as a promising young actress. Subsequently, she took on supporting roles in television series and films such as "Reno 911" (2003 - 2008), "Bank Brothers" (2004), "Dead Air" (2004), and "Rescue Me" (2004 - 2008).
While working on "All My Children," Havins was cast in the film "Dirty Deeds" (2004), a horror-comedy written and directed by Sean Morton. In 2005, she landed the lead role in Tracy Michelle Teague's romantic comedy "First Kiss," followed by a role in Travis Betz's thriller "Joshua" (2006). The same year, Havins appeared in Ash Christian's comedy "Fat Girls." In 2006, she starred in the pilot episode of the series "On and Off," although the series was not picked up. Alexa is also known for her work on stage, including her portrayal of Laura in Tennessee Williams' play "The Glass Menagerie," a timid and shy girl struggling with her relationship with her aging mother.
Recent Work
One of Havins' recent film projects was "Brooklyn Rules" (2007), where she acted alongside Alec Baldwin, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mena Suvari, and Scott Caan. In September 2007, Alexa confirmed her departure from "All My Children" to pursue more serious projects. Her character is now portrayed by young actress Amanda Baker.
