Andrei Skabelka is a former Soviet and Belarusian hockey player and current head coach of HC Gomel. He is a Merited Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus.
Early Career
As a player, Skabelka competed in the Olympics in Nagano and Salt Lake City, as well as the World Championships in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001 as part of the Belarusian national team. He played for Belarus from 1994 to 2003, amassing 81 appearances, 63 points (25 goals, 38 assists), and 74 penalty minutes. During his time with the national team, Skabelka served as its captain for an extended period.
International Representation
Skabelka also played in the 1991 Canada Cup as a member of the Soviet Union team.
Coaching Career
Skabelka embarked on his coaching career in 2015 as the head coach of HC Admiral Vladivostok. He held this position until October 2017. Since then, he has been the head coach of HC Gomel.
