Todd Fedoruk - Professional Canadian Hockey Player

Todd Fedoruk is a retired professional Canadian hockey player who played as a left winger for nine seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for six different teams. He was known by his nickname "The Refrigerator" and has Ukrainian origins.

Hockey Career

Fedoruk spent his first seven professional seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers organization after being drafted 164th overall in 1997. He made his NHL debut in the 2000-01 season and played for the team for four seasons, appearing in 220 games and accumulating over 100 penalty minutes each season. During the NHL lockout in 2004-05, he played for the Philadelphia Phantoms in the American Hockey League (AHL) and contributed to the team's Calder Cup championship. Following the lockout, Fedoruk was traded to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2005.

In the 2005-06 season, Fedoruk set career records for games played (76), assists (19), points (23), and penalty minutes (174) with the Ducks. On November 13, 2006, the Flyers reacquired Fedoruk in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

Facial Injuries

Fedoruk, known for his tough physical play, had titanium plates implanted in his face after sustaining injuries in a fight with Minnesota Wild forward Derek Boogaard during the 2006-07 NHL season. Later that same season, on March 21, 2007, Fedoruk suffered another injury in a fight with New York Rangers enforcer Colton Orr, losing consciousness and requiring a stretcher to be taken off the ice.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2007, Fedoruk signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Stars. However, he was reassigned to the Stars' AHL affiliate, the Iowa Stars, in November 2007. He played the remainder of the season with the Minnesota Wild and scored his first career playoff goal during the team's first-round loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

In July 2008, Fedoruk signed a three-year contract with the Phoenix Coyotes. He played 72 games for the Coyotes during the 2008-09 season, tallying 13 points. On July 21, 2009, Fedoruk was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning along with David Hale in exchange for Radim Vrbata.

After unsuccessful tryouts with the Vancouver Canucks in 2011, Fedoruk was released without a contract offer, effectively ending his professional career. He retired from hockey and transitioned into coaching.

Post-Retirement and Coaching

On November 9, 2011, Fedoruk was named an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Flyers' ECHL affiliate, the Trenton Titans. He served in this role for two seasons until 2013.

Personal Life

Fedoruk resided in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, with his wife and three children.
