Alexander Bode: Educator and Alleged Composer

Early Life and Education

Alexander Bode was born on March 22, 1865, in the town of Klintsi, Chernigov Governorate (now Bryansk Oblast). In 1891, he graduated from the Historical and Philological Faculty of Moscow University.

Teaching Career

After university, Bode taught ancient languages in Livonia. He married the daughter of a collegiate councilor, N.I. Zhikharev. In 1906, he was transferred as a teacher of Russian literature to Rybinsk. At the Rybinsk Men's Gymnasium, he taught Russian language and literature, as well as Latin and Greek.

Later Years

In his later years, Bode lived with his daughter, Zinaida Aleksandrovna Kolesnikova, in the suburban town of Kratovo near Moscow. He passed away in January 1939.

Alleged Authorship of "Sacred War"

Bode is often cited as the possible composer of the famous patriotic song "Sacred War." However, there is no definitive proof to support this claim.
