Alexander Dimitrenko is a professional German boxer of Ukrainian origin. He competes in the heavyweight division and has achieved significant success throughout his career.
Early Life and Amateur Career
Dimitrenko was born in a large family and began training in his youth under the guidance of Pavel Ivanovich Krivenko in Yevpatoria. In 1998, he moved to Kharkiv and became the winner of the Ukrainian Youth Championship in the same year. He represented Russia in the Junior World Boxing Championship in Hungary in 2000 and won all four of his matches, including a knockout victory over a Ukrainian boxer.
Professional Career
Dimitrenko made his professional debut in December 2001 and quickly rose through the ranks. In his 15th fight, he defeated Julius Francis, a well-known British boxer. He continued his winning streak by defeating other notable opponents such as Ross Puritty, Chris Kovalev, and Vona Bin.
In 2010, Dimitrenko changed his citizenship to German and became a citizen of Germany. He won the European Heavyweight Championship by defeating Yaroslav Zavorotny in July 2010. Dimitrenko successfully defended his title against Albert Sosnowski and Michael Sprott before suffering a injury and relinquishing the belt.
In 2012, Dimitrenko fought Kubrat Pulev for the vacant European Heavyweight Championship but was knocked out in the 11th round. After a period of inactivity, he ended his contract with Universum, a renowned boxing club in Hamburg, and became a free agent.
Dimitrenko continued to compete and achieved victories against opponents such as Samir Kurtagic and Ivica Perkovic. However, he faced a tough defeat against Joseph Parker in 2016.
In 2017, Dimitrenko fought against the undefeated Swedish prospect Adrian Granat for the IBF International title. He emerged victorious, delivering a powerful knockout that ended the fight in the first round.
