Shota Arveladze: A Georgian Goal-Scoring Legend

Early Career at Dinamo Tbilisi

Shota Arveladze, a Georgian football legend, began his career with Dinamo Tbilisi in his hometown. He quickly established himself as a prolific scorer, netting 24 goals in 24 appearances during the 1994-1995 season and 26 goals in 25 matches the following year (1995-1996).

Transfer to Germany and Freiburg Success

Arveladze's impressive goalscoring record caught the attention of European clubs, and in January 1997, he joined German side Lübeck. With the help of Lithuanian legend Romaldas Mažeikis, he settled into his new team. After a six-month contract, he remained in Germany, signing for Freiburg, which had recently earned promotion to the Bundesliga for the 1997/98 season. Arveladze's exceptional performance earned him the captaincy of the Freiburg squad in the 2005/06 season.

Stints at Karlsruhe and Bochum

After a decade at Freiburg, Arveladze parted ways with the club in 2007 and joined Karlsruhe. Following Karlsruhe's relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga in 2012, he signed a contract with Bochum, where he was assigned the coveted number 10 jersey.

International Career with Georgia

At the international level, Arveladze represented the Georgian national team, scoring 15 goals in 67 appearances. He helped shape the team's fortunes and left an enduring legacy on Georgian football.

Personal Life

Arveladze grew up in a sporting family. His father, Mamuli Iashvili, also played for Dinamo Tbilisi during the 1960s.
