Lautauro Martínez is an Argentine striker currently playing for Racing Club in the Argentine Primera División and the Argentina national team.
Early Career at Racing Club
Born in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, Martínez joined the Racing Club academy as a young boy. He made his professional debut for the club on November 1, 2015, against Crucero del Norte. His first goal for Racing came on November 20, 2016, against Huracán. Martínez continued to impress, scoring a hat-trick against Huracán on February 5, 2018, and another against Brazilian club Cruzeiro in the Copa Libertadores on February 28.
International Recognition
Martínez's performances at club level earned him a call-up to the Argentine youth team in 2017. He played a key role in their success at the South American Youth Championship in Ecuador, scoring five goals and finishing as the tournament's top scorer. He also represented his country at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea, scoring twice in the group stage match against Guinea.
Debut for the Senior National Team
On March 27, 2018, Martínez made his debut for the Argentina senior team in a friendly against Spain, coming on as a substitute for Gonzalo Higuaín. He has since become a regular squad member, representing his country in the Copa América and the FIFA World Cup.
