Early Life and Education
Alexander Ivanovich Korolyov was born in 1958 in Bender, Moldova. He attended Bender secondary school from 1965 to 1975.
Military and Law Enforcement Career
After graduating high school, Korolyov worked as a fitter at the "Pribor" plant in Bender. From 1976 to 1980, he studied at the Ion Creangă State Pedagogical Institute in Chișinău. From 1980 to 1982, he served in the Soviet Army.
In 1985, Korolyov joined the Bender City Internal Affairs Directorate (GOVD) as an inspector for juvenile affairs. In 1987, he was appointed an operative officer in the criminal investigations department.
Role in the Pridnestrovian Conflict
In 1989, Korolyov became a senior operative officer for the investigation of serious crimes. In 1992, he resigned from the Moldovan police and joined the Pridnestrovian forces during the armed conflict.
Career in the Pridnestrovian Ministry of Internal Affairs
From 1996 to 2006, Korolyov held various positions in the Pridnestrovian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), including Deputy Chief and Chief of the Criminal Police of the Bender GOVD, and First Deputy Minister and Chief of the Criminal Police.
Minister of Internal Affairs and Vice-President
On February 20, 2002, Korolyov was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Pridnestrovie. On December 13, 2006, he was elected Vice-President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
Later Career
On February 5, 2007, Korolyov became Secretary of the Pridnestrovian Security Council. He resigned from his position as Vice-President on December 30, 2011, due to the abolition of the office and the inauguration of a new president.
