Early Life and Education

Born in a peasant family, Vladimir Korovushkin attended a seven-year school and worked as an accountant from 1923 to 1929. He graduated from the Leningrad Financial and Economic Institute in 1936 and joined the Communist Party in 1937.

Career in Banking and Finance

From 1929 to 1930, Korovushkin managed a rural club and served as a village council chairman. From 1936 to 1939, he held various positions at the Leningrad Commercial Bank, eventually becoming its manager.

Rise in the State Bank

In 1939, Korovushkin became head of Leningrad's city financial department. From 1940 to 1953, he held leadership roles within the State Bank of the USSR, including managing its magazine, serving on its board, and becoming deputy chairman.

Deputy Minister of Finance

From 1953 to 1958, Korovushkin served as deputy minister of finance and a member of the ministry's board.

Chairman of the State Bank of the USSR

In 1958, Korovushkin became chairman of the State Bank of the USSR, a position he held until 1963. His tenure was marked by significant economic reforms.

Later Career in Finance

After stepping down as chairman, Korovushkin held various positions in the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, including head of the state revenue department and head of the department of industrial financing.

Recognition and Awards

Korovushkin's contributions to the Soviet banking system were recognized with numerous awards, including three Orders of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of the Badge of Honor.
