Biography of Alexander Lyakhov

Alexander Lyakhov, a well-known sports journalist and web publisher from Kazakhstan, is considered one of the "fathers" of Kaznet. He was born on August 24, 1962, in the village of Lesnoy, Surazhsky District, Bryansk Oblast, in the former RSFSR of the Soviet Union, which is now the sovereign Russian Federation. He spent his childhood and adolescence there.

During his youth, Lyakhov studied in Moscow, where he graduated from the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Engineering at the Moscow State University of Forestry (MGUL) in 1984, specializing in "Automated Control Systems" (now known as "Management and Informatics in Technical Systems" specialization). After completing his studies in Moscow, Lyakhov worked in various cities including Priozersk (Kazakhstan), Krasnogorsk (Russia), Byurakan (Armenia), and Nurek (Tajikistan) until 1992 when he permanently settled in Almaty, the southern capital of Kazakhstan.

In addition to his MGUL diploma, Lyakhov underwent an internship in the United States in 2001 as part of the Technology Commercialization Program for Software Development, conducted under the SABIT project. He also completed a 40-hour course on "Project Management according to the ANSI/PMI PMBOK Guide 2000" in Almaty, organized by the Project Management Association of Kazakhstan and Bureau of Projects in 2003. In 1998, he obtained certificates from training seminars such as N.E.T. Sales Training conducted by Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. in Almaty, and "Business Communication" organized by the Agency of Communicative Management "Renaissance" in Almaty. In 2004, he defended his master's thesis to obtain an MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree from the International Business Academy.

Since September 1996, Alexander Lyakhov has been involved in internet project management. He is a member of the International Union of Internet Professionals "Ezhe" and was awarded the "Kazakh Internet Award AWARD-2004" for his website. He served as the co-chair of the Organizing Committee for the "National Internet Award AWARD.kz" in 2006-07 and was the chair of the jury for the "Best Business Website KITEL 2000" competition and a jury member for the "Best Website KITEL 2001" and "Tatnet Stars" competitions from 2004-06. In June-December 2000, he hosted the segment "5 Minutes About the Internet" in the weekly program "Superdom" on the Rahat TV channel. In June 2006, he provided commentary on the FIFA World Cup 2006 matches on the Eurasia First Channel. He has also participated in the Russian Internet Forum (Moscow, March 2001 and 2006), the international conference STARWEST 2001 (San Jose, USA, October 2001), and the III International Forum iFin-2003 (Moscow, February 2003).

In December 2001, Lyakhov was elected a corresponding member of the International Academy of Informatization (MAI) and has five scientific publications. During his employment at GPTP "Granit," he had three implemented and developed proposals. As an IT specialist, he published several times in the magazine "QWERTY" (Moscow) and the newspaper "COMPinform" (Almaty) in 1994-95. His publications from 1998 to 2007 appeared in various magazines and newspapers such as "Mir Internet" (St. Petersburg), Computer Club, "Internet and I," Com&Com.Kz, "Management Technologies," "Exclusive," "Komsomolskaya Pravda - Kazakhstan," "Evening Almaty," "Ogni Alatau," and "Computers. Internet. Telecommunications" (all in Almaty). Currently, Alexander Lyakhov is the Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department at JSC "Kazkommertsbank" in Almaty.

Lyakhov himself identifies as Russian by heritage, Kazakh by nationality, and a cosmopolitan in terms of his worldview. He commonly uses the nickname "Uncle Shal" on the internet. He is fluent in Russian, has a good understanding of English, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and a lesser proficiency in German and Kazakh languages. He also participated in the television show "Kto Voz'met Million" (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?) on KTK channel, which is the equivalent of the British game show.
