Early Life and Military Career
Born into a working-class family, the future colonel embraced a military career from a young age.In 1919-1920, he served as a Red Army soldier, rising swiftly through the ranks to become a platoon commander and assistant company commander. By 1922, he had assumed command of a battalion.
Education and Intelligence Service
Recognizing his potential, the military sent him to the prestigious Frunze Military Academy.From 1924-1926, he honed his skills on the Basic Faculty, before specializing on the Eastern Faculty (1926-1928).
Following his graduation, he joined the Intelligence Directorate of the Red Army General Staff.From 1928-1930, he headed a sector within the 3rd Department. The following seven years saw him serving as an instructor in Mongolia, as well as heading the Intelligence Directorate of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army.
Repression and Rehabilitation
In the wake of the Great Purge, he fell victim to false accusations.On December 15, 1937, he was arrested and charged with participating in a military-fascist conspiracy. Sentenced to death by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court, he was executed on May 7, 1938.
Posthumously, his reputation was restored.On June 15, 1957, he was rehabilitated and his memory cleared of all wrongdoing.
Recognition and Legacy
For his contributions to military intelligence, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star in 1936.Despite the tragic circumstances of his demise, his legacy as a skilled intelligence officer and loyal servant of his country endures to this day.
