Early Life and Military Career

Alexander Pavlyuk was born on August 20, 1970, in Novohrad-Volynskyi, Ukraine. He graduated from the Kharkiv Guards Higher Tank Command School in 1991 and was appointed Commander of a tank platoon in the 47th Guards Tank Division, based in Germany. From 1993, he served as Commander of a tank company in the 30th Mechanized Brigade near his hometown.

Leadership in the Donbas Conflict

In 2010, Pavlyuk became Commander of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade, based in Yavoriv, Lviv Oblast. Under his command, the brigade participated in the Donbas war after 2014. They fought in the liberation of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Lysychansk. In 2015, Pavlyuk entered the National Defense University of Ukraine and handed over command to his successor.

Senior Commands

Pavlyuk was promoted to Major General in 2015 and received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky in 2016. In 2017, he was appointed Commander of the Operational Command "West," a position he held until 2020. In 2018, he was promoted to Lieutenant General. In 2020, he became Chief of Training for the Ukrainian Land Forces Command.

Commander of the Joint Forces

On July 28, 2021, Pavlyuk was appointed Commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In this role, he led the defense of Mariupol and other cities in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Hero of Ukraine and High-Level Appointments

In March 2022, Pavlyuk was awarded the title of "Hero of Ukraine" for his heroism and contributions to the defense of Ukraine. On March 15, 2022, he was appointed Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration. In February 2023, he was appointed First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine. In March 2023, he was included in the personal staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
