Early Life and EducationAlexander Tsoi, a talented actor and director of Uzbek and Korean descent, was born on October 9, 1984, in Pakhtakor, Uzbekistan. After graduating from high school, he moved to Tashkent to pursue a degree in Variety Arts from the Republican Variety and Circus College. Subsequently, Tsoi enrolled in the Tashkent Institute of Theatre, where he honed his skills as a director.
Theater Beginnings
While studying at the university, Tsoi joined the Young People's Theatre of Uzbekistan. He initially appeared in productions such as "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Princess Turandot." Later, he showcased his directorial prowess with the concert-style play "Reflections."
The Moscow Chapter
Unquenchable in his artistic pursuit, Tsoi ventured to Moscow and enrolled in the prestigious Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) under the tutelage of renowned professor Iosif Raikhelgauz. In the Russian capital, he quickly secured roles in the "School of Contemporary Play" and performed in several productions at the Moscow Art Theatre. Moreover, Tsoi demonstrated his versatility as a director by staging the play "My Happy Life" and the children's performance "In Search of Magic."
Film and Television Breakthrough
Tsoi made his television debut in 2010 with a small role in the popular detective series "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." He went on to portray a Chinese magician in the historical-mystical film "The Horde" and ventured into the world of organized crime in "Salam Moskva." His breakthrough role came in the melodrama series "Veronica," where he played Fen and reprised the character in its sequel, "Veronica. Runaway."
Despite his distinctive appearance often limiting his roles in film, Tsoi remained a versatile performer on the theatrical stage. His filmography includes appearances in the New Year's comedy "SOS, Ded Moroz, ili Vse sbudetsya!" and the comedy "Superbads."
Directing Endeavors
Beyond acting, Tsoi has directed several short films, including "Attempt" and "Masks." His most recent directorial venture, "The Best...From the First Person," won the audience prize at the Echo Film Festivals Brics in 2017.
Personal Life
Tsoi keeps his personal life private. According to his social media profiles, he is married to Daniэlla Selitska, an actress with the "School of Contemporary Play." They welcomed their son, Mark, in November 2012.

In 2015, Tsoi returned to GITIS for his Master's degree and graduated from the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors in 2016. He is active on Instagram, sharing behind-the-scenes moments and updates with his followers.
Tsoi's latest cinematic triumph came in the 2017 historical film "The Legend of Kolovrat," where he portrayed the formidable Khan Batu. He also appeared in short films such as "Bear" and "Tests 8." In 2018, he landed a supporting role in the television series "Belovodye: The Mystery of the Lost Country."
