Alexandra Raisman: American Artistic Gymnast
Alexandra Raisman is an American artistic gymnast and the captain of the U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics team. She was born on May 25, 1994, in Needham, Massachusetts, to Lynn and Rick Raisman. Raisman started practicing gymnastics at a young age, as her mother, who was also a gymnast, enrolled her in a gymnastics program when she was only 2 years old.

Early Training and Mentorship
During her early training, Raisman had the opportunity to train alongside Alicia Sacramone, who became a mentor and provided valuable recommendations for the aspiring gymnast. Raisman completed her education through online schooling, allowing her to focus on preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Early Competitions
Raisman made her debut at the senior level in 2010, competing at the American Cup in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she finished in second place. In May of the same year, she competed at the Pacific Rim Championships in Melbourne, Australia, helping the U.S. team claim the first-place title and finishing second in the all-around competition.

In October, Raisman competed at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. While the U.S. team finished in second place, Raisman placed 13th in the all-around competition.

Continued Success and Professional Career

In 2011, she placed third in the all-around competition at both the American Cup and the City of Jesolo Trophy in Jesolo, Italy. She also won the CoverGirl Classic in Chicago, Illinois, and secured a bronze medal at the Visa Championships in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
In October 2011, Raisman competed at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, filling in as team captain for the injured Alicia Sacramone. The U.S. team claimed the first-place title, and Raisman finished fourth in the all-around competition.
In November, Raisman turned professional, signing a contract with Octagon Sports agency. In 2012, she continued to excel in competitions, finishing second in the all-around competition at both the American Cup and the City of Jesolo Trophy.
