Early Life and Sports Career

Ales Mendeleyev, a renowned Soviet and Belarusian cyclist, master of history and social sciences, publicist, coach, and sports analyst, embarked on a remarkable sporting journey at a young age. Despite a serious hockey injury prohibiting further athletic pursuits, Mendeleyev secretly defied medical advice and began cycling at the tender age of 12. He achieved early success, placing third in the Minsk city championship.

Education and Professional Cycling

After graduating high school with honors, Mendeleyev earned a diploma in construction. During his university studies at Belarusian State University, he represented DSFSO "Burevestnik" under the guidance of coach Vladimir Klimkovich. In 1986, he won a bronze medal at the USSR National Championship.

In 1987, Mendeleyev signed his first professional cycling contract with the "Stomil Poznań" team in Poland. He excelled in road cycling and cyclo-cross competitions until 1991, when he founded his own commercial cycling team, "RAMG."

Coaching and Athlete Development

Mendeleyev transitioned into coaching and assumed leadership of the Pro Continental team "Inale" from 2000 to 2003. He has collaborated with professional Pro Tour teams and national squads, guiding the preparation of renowned athletes such as Marco Pantani and Erik Zabel. Mendeleyev has also trained individuals for the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

Furthermore, Mendeleyev has served as Vice President of the sports club "Polonia Środa Wlkp. Poland" since 2014 and as President since 2016. He is currently the organizer of the Moskawa Cyclo-cross race.

Entrepreneurial Pursuits

Mendeleyev commenced his business career in 1991 by establishing "Baikal-Rovar," the first sports company in Belarus. The company became a primary distributor for brands like Colnago, Fausto Coppi, and Shimano. Mendeleyev has actively supported sports organizations and schools in Belarus and Russia, donating equipment and sponsoring events.

Since 2005, Mendeleyev has owned and managed a German-Polish sports company and transportation enterprise called Alexi-Raco.

Personal Life

Mendeleyev comes from a distinguished family. His maternal ancestry traces back to the aristocratic Pilecki dynasty, and his paternal line to the renowned chemist Dmitri Mendeleyev. His stepfather, Vladimir Domachevich, was a renowned Belarusian writer who greatly influenced Mendeleyev's spiritual development.

Mendeleyev has been married four times and has two sons, Tadeusz and Maksymilian.
