Biography of Alexis Brett
Alexis Brett, a Scottish mother of many, is currently preparing to give birth to her tenth son. At the age of 37, Alexis was unfazed when ultrasound results revealed that she is once again carrying a boy. Over the past 15 years, she has given birth to nine sons and no daughters. Alexis insists that her family has grown to such incredible proportions not because she was trying to conceive a "elusive" girl, but rather it is simply amazing that she has so many boys.
Early Life
Alexis Brett, born and raised in Inverness, Scotland, is the daughter of a Scottish mother. She grew up in a modest household, but always dreamed of having a large family.
Meeting Her Husband and Starting a Family
In 1989, Alexis met David, who would later become her husband. At the time, they never discussed having a large family. However, shortly after they began their relationship, Alexis became pregnant with their first child, Campbell. Since his birth, the family celebrated the arrival of a new child almost every two years.
Being a Mother of Nine Sons
Alexis has embraced her role as a mother and takes pride in raising her nine sons. Her sons' names are Campbell (15), Harrison (13), Corey (11), Lachlan (9), Brodie (7), Braun (6), Hunter (4), Mack (3), and Blake (14 months). The family resides in a five-bedroom house in the Scottish Highlands.
Record-Breaking Pregnancy
Alexis is considered to be the first mother in the entire UK to consecutively carry and give birth to ten sons. Although she has achieved such a record, she has expressed that she will not attempt to surpass it. Alexis has decided to undergo sterilization after the birth of her tenth son in late May 2017, as she believes that contraception methods do not work effectively for her.
Life as a Multitasking Mother
Being a homemaker with nine sons is no easy task. Alexis must plan her family's meals meticulously, ensuring that her pantry and refrigerator are always stocked to feed their hungry mouths. Grocery shopping for the family requires a budget of approximately £150 for basic food supplies, with an additional £100 spent at the supermarket.
Alexis's daily routine starts at 5:30 a.m., where she begins her day by vacuuming and doing laundry in four separate loads. Remarkably, she also hand washes clothes. In a week, the family uses the shower and bathtub 80 times, prepares 58 packed lunches, and does 28 loads of laundry.
Future Plans
Alexis is determined to put an end to expanding her family. She experiences frequent hip pain, which she interprets as her body's way of signaling her to stop. Her body's signals have convinced her to make the reasonable decision to not have any more children.
To accommodate their growing family, the Bretts own an eight-seater passenger vehicle. However, there have been instances where the vehicle has been too small to fit everyone. On weekends, while the other children spend time with their father, Alexis usually stays home with the youngest child.
