Lithuanian Actor and Director
Juosas Miltinis was a renowned Lithuanian actor and director who made significant contributions to Lithuanian theater.
Early Life and Career
Born in Ekaterinoslav, Ukraine, Miltinis pursued his acting studies at the State Theater School of Acting in Kaunas from 1926 to 1929 under the guidance of Boris Daūguvietis. After graduating, he joined the Kaunas State Theater from 1929 to 1931. He subsequently performed on the stages of the Šiauliai Drama Theater (1931-1935 and 1939-1943) and the Klaipėda Drama Theater (1935-1939).
Theater and Pedagogy
In 1943, Miltinis became an actor at the Vilnius City Theater. From 1947 to 1950, he served as the artistic director of the Drama Theater in Kaunas. He also taught acting in Kaunas and at the Cultural Studies Institute in Vilnius.
State Radio and Television Committee
From 1966 to 1975, Miltinis led the State Committee for Radio and Television of the Lithuanian SSR. He authored a memoir entitled "Studies of Theater Life" in 1983.
