Alice Orr-Ewing: A Talented British Actress
Early Life and EducationAlice Josephine Orr-Ewing was born on July 7, 1989, in Hammersmith, London. As the third of five children born to Robert James, The Honorable, and Susanna Orr-Ewing, nee Bodley Scott, Alice grew up in a family with a rich political heritage, including Conservative MP Sir Archibald Orr-Ewing and his son Charles Lindsay Orr-Ewing. Her grandfather, Charles Ian Orr-Ewing, was a Baron, life peer, and decorated veteran of World War II who played a pivotal role in the development of the first mass-produced television.
Alice received her secondary education at Heathfield School, where she followed in the footsteps of artist Eileen Agar, actress Sienna Miller, Princess Alexandra of Kent, and Tiggy Legg-Bourke. She later attended the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Film Career
Alice made her on-screen debut in the 2007 film "Atonement," starring alongside Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. After graduating from LAMDA, she returned to acting, appearing in feature films such as "The Incredible Fear of Everything" and "Scapegoat" and television series including "Agatha Christie's Poirot."
In 2014, Alice embarked on a series of biographical roles, playing Jane Hawking in "The Theory of Everything" and Sarah Danby in "Mr. Turner." She also collaborated on the documentary "Oscar Wilde: The Importance of Being Earnest."
In 2015, Alice starred in the critically acclaimed 12-minute drama "In Memory." The film garnered awards at the North Carolina Film Awards and Accolade Competition and was recognized at the Queens World Film Festival and Ascona Film Festival.
Alice went on to portray Lady Flora Hastings in the television series "Victoria," a historical drama about the early reign of Queen Victoria. Her 2020 film credits include "Spy Game" and "Tony Bear," for which she won Best Actress at the IndieFilmopolis Film Festival.
In 2021, Alice starred in the short dramatic monologue "Wildbird," which won Best of Show at the Cellar Door Film Festival.
Personal Life
On August 28, 2022, Alice announced the birth of her first child, who was born at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She is married to James, who bears a resemblance to Canadian actor Adam Demos.
Recent Projects
In 2023, Alice appeared in the Russian film "Devil's Conspiracy" as the lead role. She also had supporting roles in the acclaimed television series "This Is Going to Hurt" and "Andor," a prequel to the "Star Wars" film "Rogue One." In April 2022, she performed in the Royal National Theatre's production of "Corn is Green."
