Biography of Ali Landry

Ali Landry is an American model, actress, and the winner of the Miss America pageant in 1996. She was born on July 21, 1973, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Landry gained recognition for her role as the Doritos Girl in a popular commercial during the 1998 Super Bowl.

Early Life and Career

In 1991, Landry graduated from Cecilia High School and attended the University of Louisiana, majoring in journalism. Her first success in the world of fashion came in 1990 when she won the "Miss Louisiana Teen USA" competition. Landry represented Louisiana in the "Miss USA Teen" pageant in 1990, where she placed 7th. In 1995, she won the "Miss Louisiana" pageant and became the first former teen titleholder to win the "Miss" title.

Miss Universe and Modeling Career

In 1996, Landry achieved her biggest success by winning the "Miss USA" pageant, which took place in Texas. Later that year, she won the "Miss Universe" competition held in Las Vegas. Until 1999, Landry was the only former "Miss USA" winner to win the "Miss Universe" title. However, her record was broken in 2000 by Lynnette Cole. Landry gained further fame by appearing in several modeling campaigns and magazines. She became widely recognized as the spokesperson for Doritos chips and appeared in popular television commercials during the 1998, 1999, and 2000 Super Bowl.

Acting and Television Career

Aside from modeling, Landry pursued an acting career. In 2002, she became the host of the second season of the hidden camera show "Spy TV." From 2003 to 2006, Landry was a regular cast member on the television comedy "Eve" on UPN. She also competed on the reality TV show "Fear Factor," where she finished in second place. Landry is also an avid athlete and has participated in the Boston Marathon.

Personal Life

In 1998, at the "Miss USA" pageant, Landry met actor and host Mario Lopez. Lopez was the host of the pageant, while Landry was a commentator. They got engaged in the summer of 2003 and married on April 24, 2004. However, their marriage was annulled two weeks later due to infidelity on Lopez's part. In April 2006, Landry married film director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. They have a daughter named Estela Ines Monteverde, born on July 11, 2007. Landry and Monteverde worked together on the film "Bella" in 2006, with Monteverde directing and Landry producing.
