Biography of Alicia Goranson
Alicia Goranson, an American actress, was born on June 22, 1974, in Evanston, Illinois. At the age of 14, she was cast as Becky Conner in the television comedy "Roseanne." Goranson left the series in 1993 (beginning of the fifth season) to pursue studies at Vassar College. Her education allowed her to only appear in episodes of the show. As a result, the show's writers had to write scenes involving Becky, Alicia's character, taking into account Goranson's schedule. The actress's departure from the series led to her character's divorce from her husband Mark, played by Glenn Quinn. Becky herself moved to another state and only appeared in the film through phone conversations with other characters. In the following season, the producers decided to bring the character back into the series. Goranson was still busy with her studies, so they decided to replace the character with another actor. Becky was portrayed by Sarah Chalke, known for her role as Elliot Reid in the series "Scrubs" (2001).
When filming for the eighth season of "Roseanne" began, Goranson found the time to return and reprise her role as Becky. However, Chalke had to be replaced again in episodes where the whole family goes to Disneyland and attends Darlene and David's wedding. Soon after, Goranson returned to the series once again but left again in the final season, allowing Chalke to play the role of Becky until the end of the project. After filming "Roseanne," Alicia appeared in guest roles in the series "Law & Order" and "Sex and the City."
