Early Life and Military ServiceIn 1918, Alicija joined the Polish Military Organization and served as a nurse for the Red Cross during World War I while pursuing her medical studies at the University of Warsaw. Her selfless service on the front lines earned her the Polish Cross of Polonia Restituta in 1932.
Monastic Life
On July 29, 1922, Alicija entered the convent of the Congregation of Sisters of the Resurrection and took the name Alicija. On April 30, 1929, she earned a Master's degree in Chemistry.
Martyrdom
On October 24, 1939, Alicija was arrested by the Gestapo and executed in the Piasnica forests.
Beatification
On June 13, 1999, Alicija was beatified by Pope John Paul II along with other Polish martyrs of World War II. Her feast day is celebrated on June 12th.
