Early Life and Education
Archbishop Aleksiy of Dzhanka and Razdolnoye was born on October 27, 1971, in the village of Kalinovka, Kiev Oblast, Ukraine. He grew up in a working-class family and attended Kyiv Secondary School No. 49, graduating in 1988.
Military Service and Spiritual Calling
In 1989, Archbishop Aleksiy was conscripted into the Soviet Army. Following his military service, he entered the Odessa Theological Seminary in 1991. On September 11, 1993, he was tonsured into monasticism, taking the name Aleksiy.
Priestly Ordination and Theological Studies
On September 26, 1993, Archbishop Aleksiy was ordained a hierodeacon by Archbishop Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea. He was subsequently ordained a hieromonk on October 3. He completed his theological studies at the Kiev Theological Seminary in 2001 and the Kiev Theological Academy in 2006.
Monastic Life and Pastoral Ministry
In 2006, Archbishop Aleksiy was elevated to the rank of hegumen. From 2007, he served as a professor of moral theology at the Tavricheskaya Theological Seminary. In 2009, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite. He held the position of rector of the Church of St. Nina in Gaspra, Crimea, prior to his episcopal consecration.
Episcopal Consecration
On September 9, 2009, the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) appointed Archimandrite Aleksiy as Bishop of Dzhanka and Razdolnoye. His episcopal consecration took place at the Saint Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra on February 14, 2010, officiated by Metropolitan Vladimir (Sabodan) of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
Current Ministry
As Bishop of Dzhanka and Razdolnoye, Archbishop Aleksiy oversees the spiritual well-being of the faithful within his diocese. He is known for his dedication to pastoral care, theological scholarship, and the promotion of interfaith dialogue.
