Alix Talton: The Early Years
Alix Talton was born on June 7, 1920, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her mother was of Cherokee Indian descent, and her maiden name was Bryd. Talton's talent was undeniable, and in 1938, she was crowned Miss Atlanta.
A Chance Encounter
Talton's journey to Hollywood began when a scout from Warner Bros. spotted her at the Miss Atlanta pageant. In March 1941, she signed a contract with the studio and became the seventh member of The Navy Blues Sextet. Though she didn't appear in the sextet's film debut, "You're in the Army Now," Talton proved invaluable as a substitute.
The Navy Blues and Worldly Adventures
The Navy Blues embarked on a promotional tour for "You're in the Army Now," which took them to Honolulu, Dallas, and New York City. They were feted by Hollywood elite at Sherman Billingsley's Stork Club.
Personal Life and Activism
Talton married former Hollywood agent and Air Force sergeant Lou Kerner on April 8, 1944. They welcomed their son, Bruce Marcus, on January 1, 1945. Talton dedicated herself to her family while continuing her acting career. She successfully campaigned for the release of her brother, Richard, from prison in 1954 after a four-year battle.
Second Marriage and Later Years
In 1955, Talton married television director George Cahan. They had a daughter together. Cahan passed away in 1991.
Film and Television Career
Talton's filmography includes "The Devil's Brigade," "Romanoff and Juliet," "The Deadly Mantis," "The Man Who Knew Too Much," and "In a Lonely Place." She also appeared in popular television series such as "The Lucy Show," "Perry Mason," "Have Gun – Will Travel," and "Matinee Theatre."
