Origins and Early Years

Alkaline Trio, a melodic punk rock trio hailing from Chicago, was formed in 1996 by Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Rob Doran (bass, vocals), and Glen Porter (drums, vocals). After releasing the Sundials EP in 1997, Rob Doran departed, replaced by former Slapstick bassist Dan Andriano.

The Goddamnit Era

Alkaline Trio's full-length debut, Goddamnit, dropped in 1998, establishing their signature blend of raw punk with introspective and often dark lyrics. Following the album's release, the band issued two more records in 2000.

Lineup Changes and Crimson

In 2001, the band experienced a significant lineup shift with Derek Grant (ex-The Suicide Machines) replacing Mike Felumlee on drums. This new configuration remained intact for the release of their critically acclaimed fifth album, Crimson, in 2005.

Split EPs and Compilations

Throughout their career, Alkaline Trio has participated in numerous split EPs and compilation appearances, including releases on BYO Split Series, Atticus: Dragging the Lake, and soundtracks for Tony Hawk's American Westland and FlatOut 2.

Remains and Beyond

In 2007, the band released Remains, an album compiling their singles along with covers of Hot Water Music, John Crawford, and The Damned. Alkaline Trio has continued to release albums and tour extensively, cementing their status as one of the most influential punk bands of their generation.
