Education and Early Career
Born in 1810 in the Czech Republic, Dreyschock graduated from the Prague Conservatory in 1842, under the tutelage of the revered Dionis Weber and Giovanni Battista Gordigiani.
Life and Work in Poltava
From 1848, Dreyschock resided and worked in Poltava, Ukraine, where he played a pivotal role in musical education. He taught at the Institute for Noble Maidens, where he mentored budding talents including the acclaimed opera singer Alexandra Santagano.
Preservation of Ukrainian Folk Music
Dreyschock's most significant contribution to Ukrainian music was his collection of piano arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs, entitled "Collection of 100 Little Russian Songs" (1861). This seminal work, published by Jurgenson in 1869, preserved the vibrant melodies of Ukrainian folk tradition.
