Education and Early Career

Lars-Erik Larsson, a Swedish composer, completed his organist examination in 1924. From 1925 to 1929, he pursued studies at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm, where he studied composition under Erik Elberg and conducting under Otto Morales.

Influence and Training

In 1930-1931, Larsson continued his musical education in Vienna, studying under Alban Berg, and in Leipzig under Fritz Reuter.

Career in Stockholm

Returning to Stockholm in 1931, Larsson served as choirmaster at the Royal Swedish Opera. From 1933 to 1937, he worked as a music critic for the Lund daily newspaper.

Academia and Leadership

In 1947, Larsson became professor of composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, a position he held until 1959. He then became director of music at Uppsala University from 1961 to 1965.

Conducting

Throughout his career, Larsson frequently conducted with the Swedish Radio Orchestra from 1937 to 1954.

Compositional Style
