Early Career
Amanda's first television role was a guest appearance in the TV movie "Stolen Innocence" in 1995. In the summer of 1998, she performed in local productions at the Minneapolis Theater. She returned to television in 1999, with a small role in the mini-series "To Serve and Protect" produced by NBC. That same year, Amanda made her debut in the feature film "A Little Inside," where she was cast as Sarah Parker.

Breakthrough Role

Her worldwide recognition came with the role of Terry Chaney in the highly successful sci-fi thriller "Final Destination," released in 2000. The film, directed by James Wong, combined everyday dangers with an otherworldly force of Death, making young and unknown actors such as Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, and Amanda Detmer incredibly popular.
Continued Success
In 2001, Amanda appeared in two projects simultaneously: the comedy-drama film "Saving Silverman," where she played Sandy Perkus, and the romantic drama "The Majestic," where she portrayed Sandra Sinclair.
