American Victim of Obesity

Even a few extra kilograms can complicate life; not to mention those whose weight is already measured in three digits - and the first digit in this number is not even one. 24-year-old American Amber has become one of the heroines of a new show about victims of extreme obesity; in this show, she will be offered a rather dangerous path to restoring a proper shape.

 Amber

Biography of Amber

24-year-old Amber from Troutdale, Oregon, knows from her own experience how much life can be complicated by excess weight. In Amber's case, it is not about shortness of breath or the inability to fit into her favorite jeans - her weight problems have reached a level where she is literally confined to her own home, like in a prison. It is not surprising considering that Amber weighs almost 300 kilograms.

 Amber

The terrifying story of Amber became public knowledge largely thanks to the new season of the TLC show 'My 600-lb Life', which will premiere on January 7th. This project is a reality show of a rather unusual format; it tells the story of 8 extremely overweight people and their journey through an extremely risky gastric bypass surgery. In a month, Amber is set to appear on screens across the country and beyond. She will be one of the main characters of the new season, and her story will undoubtedly resonate with the hearts of viewers.

At 24 years old, Amber is a captive in her own home; for almost 2 years, she has been living in her parents' house with her partner. She has no illusions about her appearance, openly referring to herself as a monster; one of her last hopes for transformation is the gastric bypass surgery. The situation is significantly complicated by the risks associated with this procedure; however, Amber is no longer afraid of the risks - there is unlikely to be anything worse than her current situation. The young woman has already lost faith in her ability to change herself; now she has the opportunity to use external resources - and, with their help, possibly achieve a more reasonable appearance.

It is unlikely that Amber will be frightened by the problems of post-operative recovery; her current condition itself causes her many health problems. For instance, she suffers from constant back and leg pain; currently, Amber is not even able to wash herself properly - she performs sanitary procedures while sitting on the toilet. The psychological aspects of Amber's situation should not be ignored. She feels greatly self-conscious about her appearance and openly claims to be more of a monster than a human being. Amber has already stated that she is literally imprisoned in her current body and situation; she feels pathetic and sincerely believes that she has let down her parents and herself.

In addition to Amber, the show will feature 7 other participants. They all suffer from weight that has gone far beyond reasonable limits, and all of them have long lost faith in their ability to lose weight. They will all have to go through a risky operation that, theoretically, can solve their problems. Of the 8 participants, only one is a man; in addition to purely physiological problems, the project's heroes also face psychological problems. Each of them has an unpleasant story in their memory, usually from childhood; it is often this story that determines the self-destructive path they are on. In theory, the help of a professional therapist can contribute to solving such long-standing problems; unfortunately, at the stage reached by Amber and her fellow sufferers, the situation has to be resolved with radical measures. The medicine, dangerous in itself, can no longer be more dangerous than the disease - especially if, because of the disease, a young 24-year-old woman loses the ability to leave her home and any chance of finding happiness.
