Birth and Early Life

Amir Kasymbekovich Khalikov was born on January 30, 1964, in the small town of Uritsky in northern Kazakhstan. He is the younger brother of General-Major Damir Khalikov, a distinguished officer in the Kazakh Armed Forces.

Military Education and Career Beginnings

Khalikov followed in his brother's footsteps and enrolled in the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School, graduating in 1981. He continued his military education at the Chelyabinsk Higher Tank Command School, completing his studies in 1985.

Service in the Soviet and Kazakh Armies

Khalikov began his military career in the Soviet Armed Forces, serving as a tank platoon commander in the 117th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army in East Germany. Over a six-year period, he rose through various ranks, becoming a tank company commander in the division's separate tank battalion.

After Kazakhstan's independence, Khalikov served in several positions in the Kazakh Armed Forces. He commanded a tank battalion in the 301st Tank Regiment and the 385th Motor Rifle Regiment.

Command Assignments and Promotions

In 1996, Khalikov graduated from the Military Academy of Armored Forces and was appointed chief of staff and deputy commander of a tank regiment. He went on to command the 369th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment and the 3rd Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade.

In 2002, Khalikov was promoted to the rank of General-Major. He commanded a mechanized division and served as first deputy commander of the "East" Regional Command.

Higher Military Education and Command

In 2007, Khalikov entered the prestigious Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, graduating with honors in 2009. Upon his return to Kazakhstan, he was appointed commander of the "West" Regional Command.

Senior Leadership Roles

From 2013 to 2016, Khalikov held several high-ranking positions, including Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces for Combat Training and Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.

Current Rank and Position

In 2019, Amir Kasymbekovich Khalikov was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-General by presidential decree. He currently serves as First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
