Biography of Anberlin

Anberlin is a rock band from Florida that has gained mainstream success with their unique blend of indie rock and Christian music. The band was formed in 1996 by three friends, including lead vocalist Stefan Christian, who had previously played together in the independent band Sagoh 24/7.

Stefan Christian, who had a passion for music from a young age, grew up listening to bands like The Beatles, The Cure, and Radiohead. He was particularly inspired by the music of The Smiths and Morrissey. During his time in Sagoh 24/7, Stefan and the other band members met a young drummer named Nathan Young, who joined Anberlin at the age of 16.

Anberlin's sound was different from their previous punk style, as the band members were more drawn to the British rock wave. Stefan came up with the name "Anberlin," which he had always wanted to use for a daughter if he ever had one. The band signed with Tooth and Nail Records and released their debut album "Blueprints for the Black Market" in 2003.

With the help of influential friends and online promotion, Anberlin quickly gained attention. Their debut album received positive reviews, and several songs, including a cover of The Cure's "Love Song," received radio airplay. The band continued to tour extensively and gained a loyal fan base.
