Andrzej Bachleda-Curuś, Sr.

Andrzej Bachleda-Curuś, Sr. was a Polish alpine skier who competed in the 1968 and 1972 Winter Olympics. He was the son of a singer and a Polish champion athlete.

Olympic Career

In 1968, Bachleda-Curuś represented Poland at the Grenoble Olympics, where he placed 6th in slalom and 4th in the combined event in the World Championship standings. At the 1972 Sapporo Olympics, he finished 10th in slalom.

World Championships

Bachleda-Curuś was a medalist at the World Championships, winning silver in the combined event in 1974 and bronze in 1970. He also won a World Cup stage once. Additionally, he was a 14-time Polish champion.

Family Legacy

Bachleda-Curuś's younger brother, Jan (1951-2009), was also an alpine skier and competed at the 1976 Winter Olympics, placing 11th in slalom. Bachleda-Curuś's son, Andrzej Bachleda-Curuś, Jr. (born 1975), continued the family tradition in alpine skiing. He competed in the Olympics in 1998 and 2002, achieving a best result of 5th place in the combined event in 1998.
