Andre de Waal: Dutch Business Theorist, Consultant, and Professor
Early Life and EducationAndre A. de Waal was born on June 11, 1960. He holds a Master of Science degree (1983) from the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, and an MBA (1985) from Northwestern University. In 2002, he earned a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with a dissertation on "The Role of Behavioral Factors in the Successful Implementation and Use of Performance Management."
Organizational Experience
Prior to his academic career, de Waal worked for seven years as an organizational consultant and partner with Arthur Andersen LLP and Holland Consulting Group. His consulting and research focused primarily on strategic performance management and high-performing organizations.
Research and Consulting
In 2007, de Waal founded the Center for Organizational Performance in Hilversum, where he serves as the academic director. He is also an adjunct professor of High Performance Organizations at the Maastricht School of Management and a visiting professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
De Waal has published numerous articles and books on performance management, high performance, and change management. His research has garnered him several awards, including:
